What are the costs?  When and How do you pay? NOTE:  The current price is ~$675/share for beef, sales tax, and processing.  Deposit of $50/share guarantees your place on the sale list. o Send deposit with completed order form. o It is applied to the total beef and sales tax purchase price. We guarantee the delivery of a live animal for you to the meat plant. You assume no liability for prior death loss, or anything else, during the feeding, and delivery process.  We notify you of the tentative calf delivery date in the late fall and confirm that once the delivery is scheduled.  Growth of the calves and processor availability determine the delivery date. Live weight of the animal determines beef cost and sales tax. o On the day of delivery the animal is weighed on a state certified scale. o Average beef and sales tax cost now is $6.75/lb. o Average weights have ranged from 1000-1200 lbs over the past 3 years. Processing cost is determined by carcass weight which is taken on the processor’s certified scale.  o The cost/share has been around $100/share for the last several years. o The carcass weight has been 59% of live wt (45 calves over past 3 years) o This cost includes Service to harvest the animal Dry aging of carcass for a period of 17 days Cutting, wrapping, labeling, and freezing the meat Bills and other information are mailed 1-2 days after the calf is delivered.   o Payment is by check only.  Credit card are not accepted by either The Sell Farm, LLC or the processor o There will be two bills (and mailing instructions): One for the beef and sales tax - check made out and sent to the Sell Farm, LLC One for the processing - check made out and sent to the processor o Other information includes: Directions to the processor A cover letter with dates for beef pick up and when  checks need to be received Do’s and dont’s for care of your beef We pay the $1/animal fee to the Georgia Beef Board for the mandated Beef Check Off. This payment is required  by law whenever a beef animal is sold - and is the due from the buyer.  As a convenience for our customers, we pay this for you.  We pay the sales tax on a quarterly basis.  Animals sold to individuals who are not practicing animal husbandry (which means raising the cattle for sale) are taxed at the rate in effect at the point of the animal's sale - Newton County.  Presently the sales tax is 7%. If for any reason (a natural disaster or otherwise) we are unable to deliver a live animal to the meat plant, you may elect that your full deposit (plus any partial payments) be returned, or you may elect to be included on the list for the next available animal. We taste test ground beef from every animal so we know the flavor and quality of each customer’s beef.  In addition, on the day of processing we measure the rib eye size and visually estimate the intramuscular marbling of every animal.
